Recalibrate Wellbeing® allowed the spark to come back!

Mandy is a ceremonies Officer and Registrar, a wife and mum of 3 grown-up children.  She’s generally a positive bubbly person to be around but back in 2016, she noticed she lacked energy and her usual passion for life.

Here’s Mandy’s transformation in her own words:

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START THE RECALIBRATE WELLBEING® PROGRAMME?

At the time, my skin kept flaring up and my weight had been steadily increasing for years. Pip, mentioned the wellbeing assessments she offered and I thought – I’ve got nothing to lose! I remember just breaking down in the assessment, mainly through frustration, that I just didn’t know which information to follow. Looking back my ‘resilience container’ was definitely very full!

WHEN DID YOU FIRST COMPLETE THE RECALIBRATE WELLBEING® PROGRAMME?

My assessment was at the end of May and I remember dithering for ages because it’s quite a big investment of time and money. Thankfully, after speaking with my husband, I eventually came to the conclusion, what was more important the money or my health? So, I started in June 2016.

HOW WOULD YOU EXPLAIN YOUR EXPERIENCE TO OTHERS?

Each week felt like a lightbulb moment and I just couldn’t believe I’d gone my whole life without knowing this information. Every week I changed the way I ate, then slept, then moved, then people started noticing almost straight away within 3 weeks! Donna at work was saying; “What have you done? You look so different!”. It just felt like my spark was coming back.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU NOW (4 YEARS ON)?

I wake up around 06:00-06:30. I start my day with water and since lockdown, I’ve been following an online Pilates channel. Then I take 10 – 15 mins to journal and plan my day – I’ve rarely missed this since my first recalibration, as it really sets me up for the day. My typical breakfast will be overnight oats or some homemade granola with full fat yoghurt (it took me a long time to get my head around the full fat part but it really does keep me so much fuller). Then I’ll start work, we’ve been working from home since lockdown, so lunch is typically a chicken salad. After work, Stuart (Mandy’s husband) and I often go for a walk and we’ve found many new routes! Then dinner will always be home cooked with LOTS of vegetables. In the evening I’m not a big fan of TV so I prefer to relax with a book or puzzle, then I’m off to bed at 10!

It’s amazing how many of the habits I still do even after 4 years!
