Full Description

Mental Health Awareness Management Training is for anyone who deals with the day-to-day management of a team.  The course is designed for Managers to develop personal resilience and coping strategies when dealing with stress, not only for themselves but for their team too.  The course is 4 hours in duration and covers the following:

Identifying what stress is, the warning signs, the potential causes of stress and how it affects employees.  Workplace wellbeing and work related stress – negative and positive management behaviours and the affects they have.  Understand how to deal with stressful situations more effectively. Returning to work with stress – managing an employee returning to work with stress.

Learning Objectives of the Workshop

  •  Understand the range of responsibilities and skills required by the manager when dealing with mental health issues which includes how to start the conversation and how they can support the individual.
  • Investigate the various approaches to use when dealing with the management of tasks, teams, and individuals who are experiencing mental health issues.
  • Managers will be encouraged to identify main causal factors of mental health in themselves and others and recognise positive and negative manifestation of mental health issues.
  • The workshop will help managers recognise and understand the impact of mental health on a business and how it affects the rest of the team. They will be given the tools to identify the business case for effectively managing mental health and further sources of support and guidance.
  • An important part of the workshop will cover how to effectively manage an employee who is absent from work. This will include providing support to employees during their absence and how to facilitate a return to work interview.

This course focuses on the need to increase Mental Health and Wellbeing Awareness and how managers and employees can be proactive, rather than reactive, to prevent stress & mental health sickness related leave.

The sessions are highly interactive and contain a variety of group and individual exercises; including case studies, scenarios, personal reflection and action planning.

Duration: 4 hours although this can be bespoke to your business needs

Capacity: up to 12 delegates max (for optimum benefit)

The course will be delivered in a semi-formal approach as we find this encourages group participation.
