Eddie and Friends Normalising Disability
Eddie and Friends is a series of interactive animated films written and created for 3-5 year olds. They are specifically designed to engage children with the concepts of wellbeing, literacy and normalising disability.
The animation aims to help preschool children to understand and normalise disability with the character Tammi the Tortoise (voiced by Baroness Grey-Thompson) who meets Eddie and his friends. Early years professionals have been involved in the project and the script was created in collaboration with the Centre of Independent Living in Kent, making it a educational as well as entertaining animation for young children.
Baroness Grey-Thompson said “It is so important to share and discuss the differences within our society at a young age and I am proud to back a project that works to normalise disability. The Paralympics has demonstrated that disability shouldn’t hold back people’s dreams and ambition in sport or personal life and the DVD
celebrates this - which is such a positive message for young minds growing up.”
